ATTENTION ALL CHRISTIANS!
It was announced in this morning's 'Beeld' that Government wants to change
all Christian holidays e.g. Christmas and Easter, as Christianity has too
many public holidays and it is therefore discrimination against other
religions.

They no longer want Christian names for these holidays. So if you are
prepared to stand up for your faith, please sign the form to say that you are
against this proposal.

We will stand up for our Lord!

Every 200 names, please submit to the address below.

AANDAG ALLE CHRISTENE !
In vanoggend se Beeld word daar bekend gemaak dat die Regering 'n Nuwe idée
het om die Christen vakansie dae soos Kersfees, Paasfees en Opstandings dag
te verander wat die geloof het glo klaar te veel vakansie dae en dit
diskrimineer teenoor ander gelowe!!

We will stand up for our Lord and His name!

Vir elke 200 name - Stuur die lys aan: sandra@po.gov.za (sandra@po.gov.za)

The same is happening in the UK!!
WAKE UP SOUTH AFRICA!!!!

Look at the dates when this all started. It is a political push by political party/ies in preparation for elections.:confused:

Calls for Christian holidays to be renamed amount to a minority of non-Christians seeking to enforce their will on the majority, the Afrikanerbond said on Friday.
Mail and Guardian online JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA Apr 20 2007 15:36
Managing director Jan Bosman was reacting to comments by Pumla Madiba of the Commission for the Rights of Cultural, Religious and Linguistic Communities.

Beeld newspaper quoted Madiba as saying "it raises great concern" that Christians had many public holidays in the name of their religion.

The newspaper said there had been an application to the Department of Home Affairs for the names of Christian public holidays to be changed in favour of African religions also observed those days.

This request came from Kara Institute director Mathole Motshekga, who asked the department to "de-Christianise" Christmas and Easter.

Bosman said Madiba's pronouncements "support the perception that a small minority of non-Christians wants to enforce their will on the majority".

He pointed out: "The overwhelming majority of South Africa's population, namely 79,8%, proclaimed in the 2001 Census to be Christians".

"Even more important is that 79,9% of the black population indicated that they were Christians," added Bosman.

In addition, 86,8% of the coloured population, 24,4% of the Indian population and 86,9% of the white population also told the census they followed Christianity, Bosman said.
Motshekga said the birth dates of African ancestors fell in the week of Christmas.

"Therefore we are asking the department to change the names of those holidays so that all parties can use the days as they see fit, without concern or discrimination." -- Sapa

ACDP warns on Christian holidays
CAPE TOWN -- The African Christian Democratic Party yesterday warned government of the grave consequences of taking Christmas and Good Friday off the country's public holiday calendar.
ACDP leader Kenneth Meshoe told MPs during the president's Budget debate in the National Assembly his party was aware of the debate on whether these religious holidays should continue as public holidays.
Those who were calling for the change were misguided and going against the wishes of the majority of South African voters.
"Any attempt by government to remove Christmas and Good Friday from our calendar will be political suicide for the ANC," he said. -- Sapa
