MOTHERWELL residents have threatened to take the law into their own hands if police fail to curb crime in the area.
More than 300 residents from the NU8 and NU9 areas marched to the Motherwell police station yesterday and handed a memorandum to station commander Senior Superintendent Mzukisi Moshara.
A community leader, wheelchair-bound Morriis Matutu, said residents were now saying “enough is enough”. He said brazen armed thugs kicked doors open at night and robbed and raped residents.
Children sent on errands to the shopping complex were assaulted and robbed.
Luzuko Batyisi said residents were unhappy to see criminals they had apprehended being released minutes after they had handed them over to the police.
