My God...Things in this country are simply put getting worse by the minute!

From the Randfontin Herald:

"Cyclists’ death bail outrage

By Nick Wilson (nwilson@johnnicec.co.za)

OUTRAGE mounted yesterday as the man arrested in connection with the deaths of two Jeffreys Bay cyclists was granted bail of R1 000 in the Humansdorp Magistrate’s Court.
“There is no justice,” said Jeffreys Bay Cycling Club chairman Gys Pretorius after Tjoksville resident Patrick Nzimakwe, 31, who was arrested in connection with the deaths of two cyclists and a passenger in his vehicle, was granted bail.
Retired Wavecrest residents Sydney Black, 59, and Henry de Lange, 60, were killed on the R102, between Humansdorp and Jeffreys Bay at the Swart River, while training for an upcoming race.
The third person killed in the accident was Zoleka Jacobs, 27, who was sitting in the back seat of the Mazda 323 sedan which struck and killed the cyclists.
Mr Nzimakwe is facing six criminal charges, including three culpable homicide cases, one for drunken driving, another for driving without a licence and one for leaving the scene of an accident without establishing the damage and nature of the injuries of the victims involved in the accident.
Mr Nzimakwe has been held at St Albans Prison since the tragedy on December 12 when he was prevented from fleeing the scene by a witness.
Magistrate Jan van der Westhuizen granted Mr Nzimakwe R1 000 bail and his case was postponed to February 5.
In terms of his bail conditions Mr Nzimakwe has to report to the Jeffreys Bay police station every month and he is not allowed to leave the Humansdorp district, except for work.
On Monday Mr Pretorius and Mr Black’s son, Sean, handed in a petition to the court containing the names of 500 people opposing bail. Mr Pretorius said he was “absolutely furious” that Mr Nzimakwe had been granted bail by the court.
“This guy hasn’t got a fixed address. He is a chokka fisherman and he goes on boats for 21 days and comes back for two to three days and then goes back out to sea. How are you going to find him on the ocean?”
Mr Pretorius said members of his cycling club as well as others “all feel the same”.
“Some of the people are speechless. What’s happened to our justice system?” Mr Pretorius asked .
Sean Black also expressed disappointment at the court’s decision.
“It’s very disappointing that a guy caught under the influence of alcohol without a valid driver’s licence and for reckless and negligent driving and fleeing the scene still gets a chance of bail,” Mr Black said.
“This is totally unacceptable,” he added.
When the Herald contacted state prosecutor William Booysen, he declined to divulge the reasons why the magistrate granted Mr Nzimakwe bail.
“No comment” was the response to all of the Herald’s questions.
Earlier this week, a Cape Town night club reveller who crashed into a group of cyclists after falling asleep behind the steering wheel of his car last year was sentenced to a fine of R3 000 or 12 months in jail for negligent driving.
Mark Keyser, 25, faced 15 charges of attempted murder, but was found guilty on the alternative charge of negligent driving.
The crime was committed in February last year when Keyser crashed into a group of cyclists out on an early-morning practice run for the Argus/Pick ’n Pay Tour."

From me...
Does anyone know of ANY Government department that actually cares, does their job properly and who can claim to have earned their salaries that we pay for?

(Remember that government employees, even though they pay taxes, derive their income from the PRIVATE SECTOR taxes!!) They contribute NOTHING to the primary economy (They of course do contribute to the secondary economy by buying goods) and should appreciate that their salaries come from US and at least put in an HONEST DAY'S WORK!

They are there to SERVE us..not dictate, steal and abuse us!

If ever civil strife is on the cards, it is surely to happen soon! May God help us!
