Our constitutional rights declare:
" No one may be refused emergency medical treatment." - It fails to say that you will have to sell your home to pay for it!

Hmmm....Have you just had a heart attack, car accident or other serious injury?
Try going to a private hospital ! (You really do not want to try a government hospital - especially the very dirty Addington Hospital in Durban)

When my wife was seriously injured in an accident, private hospitals wanted a deposit of R20,000 before they would even look at her!
When my sister-in-law was seriously wounded in a stabbing, the nearest hospitals would not even look at her because she earns below the bread line!

Finally they were taken to a government hospital and left to rot!

WHAT DO WE PAY TAXES FOR??? Oh yes I forgot...for a nice new BMW for our government ministers and their families to enjoy whenever they want, and whatever else the steadily puffing gravy train can provide!

it's a sad state of affairs when status and annual income can dictate what kind of health care you receive. All Emergency rooms in the States must provide minimal service to stabilize someone enough to transport to a government facility if they do not have health insurance or cannot afford to pay for additional services....so just don't ever get into a life threatening accident...easy huh?

That really sucked. I remember your wife was in a really bad condition.
